I recently came across an interesting case where one company manufacturing Charles Rennie Mackintosh jewellery tried to stop another jewellery company from manufacturing and marketing Rennie Mackintosh jewellery.
It seems that the first company claimed that they owned the exclusive use of the words "The Rennie Mackintosh Collection" and also the distinctive type face used throughout the Mackintosh world!
Needless to say, the case which which was brought under Trade Mark law was thrown out and this ridiculous claim was a large waste of everyone's time!
